There will be a new addition to Kenosha’s Petrifying Springs Park this coming summer...a German-style beer garden. Housed in the picnic shelter right across from the dog park at the park’s southern entrance---it will be called the Petrifying Springs Biergarten---German spelling---and---will feature German-style food---premium beers---along with wine and other non-alcoholic beverages.
In a press release---Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser said the beer garden is a joint ownership between Mike Grab---who owns Grab’s Burger Bar on 18th Street in Kenosha---and--- Tony DeBartolo---the former owner of DeBartolo’s Deli & Liquor in Kenosha. The pair has promised some $130,000 in improvements to convert the picnic shelter into a beer garden over the next few months. The pair has a five-year lease with the county. The beer garden will be open to the public---from Noon – 9pm daily---from Memorial Day through October.
County Board Supervisor Dennis Elverman said it’s a great public-private partnership that will bring additional amenities to the park system with little to no cost to the taxpayers.
