Small Pleasant Prairie Company is In a Celebratory Mode

(WGTD)---A small family-owned company in Pleasant Prairie’s LakeView Corporate Park has a lot to celebrate these days.

L & M Corrugated Container was founded in Zion in 1979. The current third-generation owners and operators are still young—Steven Lopes is company president and his sister, Jen Greene, is the chief operating officer.

The box-making company specializes in short runs for small and medium-sized businesses.

With the Pleasant Prairie plant and another in Platteville, the company broke a sales record last month.

They’re also celebrating the installation of a huge, $8 million box-making machine in Pleasant Prairie to replace one that was several-decades old.

At an open house Friday, Greene said the new machine allows for six-minute set-ups. "Before the set-up was 30 minutes and the machine that was here prior did not have five colors. So what this is going to allow us to do is service customers better and give them more capacity and efficiency," she said.

The new machine has positioned the company for future growth. As a result, L & M is looking to add 20 new positions to its 130-member payroll, according to Greene. "If you have a real passion for working for somebody where we're going to know your name and treat you like a person and if you really want to excel at what you're doing you do have an opportunity here," Greene said.

L & M’s Pleasant Prairie plant is on Highway ‘H’, a short distance south of STH 165.
