Barricades Up at Civic Center Park for Vance Visit; Roads to Close

Aug. 19, 2024 10a

(WGTD)---Preparations are being finalized for the appearance in Kenosha Tuesday at noon for Donald Trump's running mate, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance.

Vance is to speak in Civic Center Park across the street from the courthouse beginning at noon.

The park has already been cordoned off. Streets in the area, including Sheridan Rd, are expected to be closed from nine until two. Access to the courthouse will be possible by coming in from either the east or north.

Vance's visit is coming on the second day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, and four days ahead of the 4th anniversary of the police shooting of Jacob Blake. The park where Vance is scheduled to speak was a focal point for demonstrations.

According to the campaign, Vance is scheduled to discuss crime and safety issues while in Kenosha.

This will be his third visit to Wisconsin in as many weeks.

At the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee later today, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are scheduled to be the featured speakers at a rally.
