Community Matters

Community Matters focuses on what’s at issue in the WGTD listening area. Is preempted on occasion by live broadcasts of the WGTD Radio Theater and by the Metropolitan Opera.

Jayne Herring

Jayne Herring

Jayne has been a strong advocate for community involvement since moving to Kenosha in 1980 to join the WGTD news staff. After serving as news director for 6 years there, she became the director of the newly established Kenosha Convention and Visitors Bureau. While staying an active volunteer in a variety of Kenosha and Racine not-for-profit organizations, she filled various marketing and communications roles in the natural gas industry, then at Gateway Technical College.

Joan Roehre

Joan is active at the Homeless Assistance Leadership Organization (HALO) as a member of the board and a former interim executive director. She also is a former executive director of Visioning a Greater Racine. Joan is a life-long Racine resident.

Len Iaquinta

Len, a Kenosha native, is trained as a journalist at Northwestern University in Evanston (BSJ) and Columbia University in the City of New York (MSJ). He is active in local, regional and national organizations serving children and families.

Marsha Connet

Marsha Connet is the Southeast Regional Consultant at Wisconsin Literacy. She provides literacy education, support and management expertise to literacy programs in a seven-county area. She formerly owned the Lakeshore Studio, a marketing and public relations firm. She was an instructor at both Gateway and Milwaukee Area technical colleges. As an announcer at WGTD for several years and host of her own radio program on WRJN for 15 years, she brings years of radio experience.

Ron Purtee

Ron is a Racine native and has been broadcasting via one medium or another since 2001. He is a film critic, writer, internet personality and host. He is also one of the people behind the homeless benefit that is held annually in Racine called Blank-Fest.
