On Saturday, September 9th, at 11:15 a.m., the WGTD Radio Theater once again returns to the Southwest Neighborhood Library, and will present another episode of The Kane Shadow, featuring our actor, Ryan Farrell, portraying Kenosha’s very own native son, Orson Welles, in “The Library Mystery.”
This show stars members of the 91.1 Players and is written and produced by Dr. Steve Brown, President of The Brown-Ullstrup Performing Arts Foundation, located in the Village of Salem Lakes, Wisconsin. The radio play is directed by Ann Marie Schmid.
The Story:
Kenosha native son Orson Welles, portrayed by area resident Ryan Farrell, is once again taking on the identity of “The Kane Shadow.” The title of this episode is “The Library Mystery.” The “Kane Shadow” name, created by Steven Brown and the late Michael Ullstrup, combines Welles’ acting roles in both “Citizen Kane,” and “The Shadow.” Also appearing in this mystery are the fictional characters Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson.
In addition, a special recorded guest appearance by Kathy Garver, who played “Cissy” in the CBS Television series “Family Affair” is featured as mystery author Agatha Christie.
In this story, there are many books found on the shelves in the library with one page number underlined in pencil. Many questions are asked regarding this very strange occurrence.
Members of the 91.1 Players starring in this broadcast include: Ryan Farrell, Siegfried Christoph, Brett Houdek, Cameron Spencer, Ann Marie Schmid, Natalie La Voie, Carol Knudson, Kathy Zuhlke, Mike Bavido, Rene Bushelle, Todd Eaves, Naomi Waisman-Zabler, Julie Burton, Jim McClure, and Shirley Edwards. And, as previously mentioned, special guest star Kathy Garver.
This live broadcast, which begins at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, will take place at the Kenosha Southwest Neighborhood Library, located at 7979 38th Avenue, In Kenosha, Wisconsin.
