Host Dr. Karin Sconzert interviews Ryanne Deschane and Kathryn Champeau about the way reading is taught in Wisconsin.
On July 19, 2023, with little fanfare or news coverage, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers signed Act 20 into law. This new initiative will change the way reading is taught in Wisconsin. It will affect every school and every teacher who teaches reading, and every program which prepares reading teachers. It is a sweeping law, and most Wisconsinites know little about it. What is in the new law? Why was it passed? Is it likely to deliver on the promises made?
