Rosie's Restaurant Fire Caused by Unattended Heater

Racine--The New Year's Day fire that destroyed Rosie's restaurant---on Taylor Avenue in Racine---was reportedly caused by an unattended heater. The Racine Fire Department issued a news release Monday indicating that exceptionally cold weather had caused water lines to freeze in the restaurant. Rosie's owner---Alfonso Arroyo---reportedly left an unattended LP gas-fueled torpedo-style heater running to thaw the frozen water lines. According to the Fire Department news release---the fire originated in the area where the torpedo heater was aimed The fire has been ruled as accidental.
