New Trolley Showcases Kenosha's Lakefront

There's a new way of getting around at Kenosha's lakefront.

A rubber-wheeled trolley-bus is running regular routes Wednesday through Sunday from 1:45 in the afternoon until 9:15 at night. The new service will be operational until the end of September.

It's funded in part by that $8 million federal grant that originally had been earmarked for streetcar expansion. Most of the grant is now being used to fund new routes and extended hours of operation for Kenosha's municipal bus service.

The trolley route is designed to showcase Kenosha's lakefront, promote tourism and increase commerce. The new line runs between the band shell at Pennoyer Park on the north and Kemper Center on the south.

There is a small charge for the ride: A dollar for adults and fifty-cents for children.

More information is available on the city's web site, kenosha-dot-org.
