From WGTD News:

26-year-old Abdullah Rashada, Jr. escaped a conviction of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide in Racine Court, but he's still going to prison. After a jury earlier this year acquitted Rashada of the murder charge, a judge yesterday sentenced him to a two-year prison term on a count of possession of a firearm as an adjudicated delinquent. Rashada had pleaded guilty to the lesser charge. During the murder trial, Rashada's attorney said his client had acted in self-defense and the defense of others who'd been at a New Year's Eve party two years ago at a Washington Ave. tavern called Rerun's Lounge. A gun fired by Rashada killed a man who'd been threatening others. During the melee, the man's gun went off, leaving a second man dead, tavern owner Avery Stewart. Because he spent a year-and-a-half behind bars awaiting trial, Rashada should be out of prison well before the end of the year.

A 17-year-old Racine boy has been charged with making terrorist threats for allegedly waiving a gun at a group of Horlick High School students last week. According to the criminal complaint, Giovanni Stroud had been assaulted by a group of students in the school cafeteria a couple of days earlier. Then on Friday afternoon, Stroud allegedly drove past students who were practicing track behind the school, made some threatening comments and displayed what appeared to be a gun. Stroud is being held in juvenile detention following a Monday court appearance where bond was set at $10,000. The complaint includes several counts for bailing jumping. Previously pending for Stroud include counts for resisting, burglary and theft.

Racine police closed down an after-hours bar over the weekend, but it didn't come easy. Two people were arrested: a 36-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman. According to the criminal complaint, police were keeping an eye on a large congregation of people and vehicles in the 1600 blk. of 16th St.  The defendants were arrested after they purportedly refused to leave the building and started arguing with police.
