UW-Parkside Students React after Presidential Debate

Sept. 10, 2024 11:15p

(WGTD)---About 50 students watched Tuesday night's presidential debate on a big-screen TV in the lounge in UW-Parkside’s library.

Afterward, Shawna—a psychology major who said she's 'leaning' toward voting for Kamala Harris--said she believed Harris came out on top. "I think she did a better job of providing solid facts as to what her plans are...whereas Trump was more vague with his explanations," she said.

Another student, Sarah, said she's a firm Harris supporter. "I think former President Trump couldn't go thirty seconds without lying," she said. "I think she was able to keep her cool really well, and deliver really valid points."

Nate Mancheski described himself as an independent, and said he’s keeping his options open. "Harris is definitely more into it I guess for lack of a better term. She's snapping back a lot harder at Trump," he said.

The debate watching party was one of a series of events at Parkside that are open to the public and evolve around the November election.

Wednesday at noon in a lecture hall in the Rita…there’ll be a presentation on the history of presidential assassinations and attempted assassinations in America.
