We begin the week with an author from northern Illinois, Fern Schumer Chapman, author of "Is It Night or Day? A Novel of Immigration and Survival, 1938-1942." The events of the novel are based on the experiences of Chapman's mother, whose parents felt compelled to send her to America as the horrors of the holocaust were beginning to descend on their country. Chapman is also author of "Motherland," which was a Racine Reads book several years ago.
