SEGMENT 1:
Dr. Jill Underly was elected State Superintendent of Public Instruction on April 6th, 2021. Dr. Underly has a deep background in public education, since 1999, she has worked in all facets of public education: at the college level, but also at both the state and district levels as a teacher and administrator.
With over twenty-five years of public education experience, Dr. Underly has been committed to ensuring that every child, every day, has the opportunity for a first-class public education in the State of Wisconsin.
SEGMENT 2:
Bethel School District v. Fraser, 478 U.S. 675 (1986), was a landmark decision of the Supreme Court of the United States in which the Court upheld the suspension of a high school student who delivered a sexually suggestive speech at a school assembly. The case involved free speech in public schools.
Matthew Fraser and several college friends founded Education Unlimited in 1993 with the vision of teaching students critical thinking skills in a fun learning environment. During his tenure as Executive Director Education Unlimited has grown from a single program with 34 students in its first year to roughly 50 sessions of camp on about a dozen college campuses, with nearly 2,000 students attending each summer some twenty years later!
