Education Matters - 5/17/14

Steve Brown's exclusive guest is Cheryl Brown Henderson, daughter of the late Oliver L. Brown. The topic:Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education. May 17 is the 60th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education, the U.S. Supreme Court's 1954 decision that prohibited Southern states from segregating schools by race. The Brown decision annihilated the "separate but equal" rule, previously sanctioned by the Supreme Court in 1896 (in Plessy v. Ferguson), that permitted states and school districts to designate some schools "whites-only" and others "Negroes-only."
