'Second Gentleman' Campaigns in Kenosha

Oct. 25, 2025 11:20a

(WGTD)---Speaking at a campaign rally in Kenosha Thursday evening, the husband of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris repeated something that Harris herself said a few hours earlier: That her Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump, is a fascist.

Doug Emhoff spoke to close to 300 people in the Vault banquet hall in downtown Kenosha.

Emhoff cited comments made by Trump’s longest-serving chief of staff, General John Kelly, in recent interviews with the New York Times and The Atlantic. "General Kelly said that Trump told him that Trump wanted the generals that Hitler had? And he said that Hitler did some good things? Again, this is disqualifying," said Emhoff, adding "People need to hear this and know this."

Trump has denied making the Hitler references and as also made disparaging remarks about Kelly.

At the rally, Emhoff was introduced by Kenosha Boys and Girls Club board member Brandon Morris.

Accompanying Emhoff to Kenosha and speaking beforehand were Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, who’s been mentioned as a possible future presidential candidate, and Emhoff’s brother-in-law, Tony West.

Speaker after speaker reminded the crowd of the closeness of previous presidential elections in Wisconsin. Some noted that a two or three vote swing in each precinct in the state could easily affect the outcome.

Harris’ running mate, Tim Walz, spoke at Memorial Hall in Racine earlier this week.

Republican vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance will speak in the same venue Monday evening.
