(WGTD)--- One of 13-year-old Racine Native Liamani Segura’s ultimate dreams was to sing on stage with R&B greats Boyz II Men. A viral clip and her talent made it happen at The Met in Philadelphia last month. The singer posted video of the performance this week and it already has millions of views across a variety of platforms. Video was liked by hitmaker Justin Bieber on Instagram who now follows Segura on the app.
During the sold out February 12th Philly show, Segura joined the iconic group for a rendition of “One Sweet Day,” their 1996 hit duet featuring Mariah Carey. The song is one of the most successful in music history staying at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Charts for 16 weeks; a record that stood for over 20 years. As Segura began her portion of the song, members of the audience rose to their feet and screamed. "That's what real music does," Boyz II Men member Wanya Morris yelled to a frenzied crowd pointing to Segura after the performance. Morris later on social media said Segura "turned the place upside down."
Segura is no stranger to “One Sweet Day.” The singer posted a clip belting the hit in 2021. The clip went viral and reached the legendary Mariah Carey herself who called Segura’s take “absolutely amazing!!!” Boyz II Men also saw the clip and was so impressed the group invited Segura on stage for multiple shows in Massachusetts and Philadelphia in February of this year.
Segura is still a Racine Unified student though the rising star said via Instagram that her family is considering homeschooling her next year due to her travel and performance schedule. Last year, Segura was introduced to Usher and other musicians, entertainers, and executives during several trips to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Segura was in LA recently filming an undisclosed acting project and completed school virtually. Just this week, Segura was given an all access pass to Universal Studios themepark in Hollywood by Universal executives.
