Kenosha County Lottery Scam Uncovered

(WGTD)---Charges have been filed in connection with a Wisconsin lottery scam in Kenosha County.

 27 year-old Urshit Patel of Oak Forest, Illinois is facing 43 felony counts of altering or forging lottery tickets. Patel is a former employee of Lucky Dog Liquors on Highway 83 in Salem Lakes. 

For a time, Patel was in charge of ordering tickets from the lottery and then following a protocol to ready them for purchase at the store. 

According to the criminal complaint, Patel allegedly set aside hundreds of tickets. He allegedly gave the winning tickets to associates, who then cashed them in at other stores in the area. 

The scam was uncovered by lottery officials who noticed discrepancies. 

The complaint says tickets worth at least $66,000 were involved in the theft.

 A warrant has been issued for Patel’s arrest.
