(WGTD)---The fourth defendant to be charged in Kenosha County's THC vape cartridge manufacturing case is a full-time UW-Milwaukee student who still lives with her parents in Racine.
19-year-old Hannah Curty was formally charged Thursday with a single count of manufacturing and delivering THC. Bond was set at $10,000 and a preliminary hearing was scheduled.
20-year-old Tyler Huffhines--said to be the ringleader of the operation--and his 20-year old brother, Jacob, were previously charged, as was the brothers' mother, 43-year-old Courtney Huffhines. Authorities allege that cartridges were filled in a backroom at Courtney Huffhines' real estate office in Union Grove and later at a condo in Bristol that was rented by Tyler Huffhines with the help of his mother.
Curty allegedly filled catridges at both locations and was paid by the hour, according to special prosecutor Leslie Boese. She said investigators recovered time cards that showed Curty worked at least eleven hours.
Although other employees allegedly involved in the operation have been quoted in criminal complaints, Curty is the first paid worker to be charged. Authorities apparently lost patience after Curty canceled an appointment to meet with investigators and hired an attorney--then was seen driving in the area with Tyler Huffhines' 2014 BMW.
