Former RUSD Interim Superintendent Dr. Ann Laing Dies

She was a teacher, principal, administrator, program director---and---finally---interim superintendent in four decades with the Racine Unified School District---and today--- many are remembering the impact Doctor Ann Laing had on students, RUSD---and---the community. Dennis Wiser---the Racine Common Council President---and School Board Vice-President---announced last night that Laing had passed away from a heart attack at the age of 76.  She was the interim superintendent before the arrival of Lolli Haws---and---during her two-year stint tried to make the district more community-oriented---while also emphasizing things like staff training and special education. Ann Laing had actually retired from Racine Unified in the summer of 2007---but---came back to lead the special ed program and then took the interim Superintendent's job until the summer of 2013. Funeral services for Ann Laing are pending.
