(WGTD)---One of two Kenosha School Board members who are up for re-election this spring will step down.

Kristine Schmaling has filed a notification of non-candidacy in advance of the spring election. Schmaling is completing her first, three-year term.

Meanwhile, the second incumbent, Rebecca Stevens, tells WGTD that she plans to seek re-election.

At least two challengers have emerged.

Former school board member Carl Bryan says he plans to run again.

And newcomer Valerie Leary Kretchmer has officially entered the race. Kretchmer tells WGTD she has a business background and has worked with the procurement departments of several school districts.

The filing deadline is Tuesday.
